今日の洋楽
今日はザ・コースターズでダウン・イン・メキシコという曲です。
コースターズの1956年のデビュー曲です。R&Bチャートで8位を記録しました。幸先の良いスタート、その後もヒットを連発、イギリスのグループはこぞってコースターズの曲をカバーするまでになりました。
1970年に再録音しましたが、そのバージョンがデス・プルーフという映画に使われています。
再録音は私にとってはあまり良いイメージはないですが、私はこの曲はその再録音のバージョンで初めて聴いたので、逆に1956年のオリジナルが音が寂しい気がします。
