今日の洋楽

今日はビリー・ジョエルでアレンタウンです。

ビリー・ジョエル作曲です。1982年のアルバム『ナイロン・カーテン』収録曲です。また、同アルバムからのシングルカット第2弾として発売され、全米で17位を記録しています。

この『ナイロン・カーテン』は、従来のビリーのアルバムにあったラブソングが表に出る事はなく、社会問題を扱った歌が有名になっています。

今回のアレンタウンは、ペンシルベニア州にある実在の街・アレンタウンの衰退を感じながらも、それでも前に向かって生きて行く男を歌った歌です。
