今日の洋楽

今日はジョーン・バエズでフォー・サーシャです。

ジョーン・バエズ作曲です。1980年のアルバム『ライブ』、また前年1979年のアルバム『オネスト・ララバイ』収録曲です。

この歌はホロコーストの事を歌っています。ホロコーストとは、第二次世界大戦中にアドルフ・ヒトラー率いるナチス・ドイツによる、ユダヤ人等に対して行われた大量虐殺の事を指します。

ユダヤ人を収容所に送り込み、過酷な強制労働を課したり、人体実験、また一酸化炭素や毒ガス・排気ガスなどを用いて殺戮を行った結果、ホロコーストによって殺されたユダヤ人は900万から1100万にものぼります。

今回のジョーン・バエズの歌の「サーシャ」は誰の事を指すのかは分かりませんでしたが、ホロコーストの惨状をテーマにして、二度とこんな事が行われないように祈りを込めて歌われています。
