今日の洋楽

今日はジョニー・キャッシュでルーサー・プレイド・ザ・ブギーです。

ジョニー・キャッシュ作曲です。1959年のシングルで、カントリーチャートで8位を記録しました。

ルーサーとは、ジョニー・キャッシュのバックを務めていた「テネシー・ツー」のギタリスト、ルーサー・パーキンスの事です。ちなみにベースはマーシャル・グラントです。

主にフェンダーのギターを使っていましたが、最初に使ったギターが中古だったため、ボリュームのトーンが壊れてて調整できませんでした。

そこで、右手首で6から4弦をミュートしてスクラッチするという奏法を編み出しました。このスタイルは、ルーサー・パーキンスが寝タバコによる火災で死亡する1968年まで続くことになりました。
