今日はジェームズ・ブラウンでセックス・マシーンです。

ジェームズ・ブラウン、ボビー・バード作曲です。1970年のシングルで、ホット100で15位、R&Bチャートで2位を記録しました。

私が人生で最初に聴いたジェームズ・ブラウンの曲です。「ゲロッパ!」のフレーズでもお馴染みですね。

シングル盤はA面B面ともにこの歌ですが、A面は最初から「I wanna count it off one more time now」まで、B面はその後の「Get on up, get on up」から最後までです。

また、曲中に「Shake your moneymaker」という歌詞がありますが、これはエルモア・ジェームスの歌のタイトルに由来しています。機会がありましたらそちらも紹介します。

日本では、1992年にカップヌードルのCMにジェームズ・ブラウンが出ていた事もありました。ご存知の方はいらっしゃるんでしょうか。YouTubeにその動画がありますので、是非そちらも見て下さい。

セックス・マシーンの「ゲロッパ」を「味噌ッパ」とフレーズを変えて歌っています。あのジェームズ・ブラウンが日本語でダジャレを、と後から知った私はビックリしました。
