今日の洋楽

今日はビル・ヘイリーでジュークボックス・キャノンボールです。

ジェシー・ストーン、ラスティー・キーファー作曲です。1952年のシングルです。

アメリカのトラディショナル(伝統曲)の一つ、「Wabash cannonball」というミシガン州デトロイトからミズーリ州セントルイスまでを結ぶ特急列車を讃えた歌がオリジナルです。今回の歌は「Wabash cannonball」のメロディーを活かして歌詞を変えています。

オリジナルは1946年のレイ・ホイットリーです。

ジュークボックス・キャノンボールという列車に乗って、音楽にもノッて楽しもうぜ、という歌です。

下線部分は歌詞が不明瞭な所です。
