今日はカール・パーキンスで、バッピン・ザ・ブルースです。

カール・パーキンス、ハワード・グリフィン作曲です。1956年のシングルで、ホット100で70位、カントリーチャートで9位を記録しました。

前作「ブルー・スエード・シューズ」の大ヒット後、テレビ出演のため車で向かっていたのですが、途中で大事故にあい、代演でエルヴィスが出て以来、あまりヒットチャートの上位に入る事が出来なくなります。

それでも後続のミュージシャンにファンが多いんですから、ある種カリスマ性があったんではないかと思われます。

リック・ネルソン、ジーン・ヴィンセント、ロバート・ゴードンなど、ロカビリー系の人達がカバーしています。
