今日の洋楽

今日はザ・ドリフターズで「渚のボードウォーク」です。This is a pen!

ケニー・ヤング、アーサー・レスニック作曲です。1964年のシングルで、ホット100で4位を記録しました。

ボードウォークとは、木の遊歩道の事です。この歌は海辺に置かれた物を差しますが、これ以外にも、湿原地帯や砂丘地帯にも置かれています。尾瀬ヶ原の湿原に置かれたボードウォーク(木道)は、全長65キロもの長さを誇ります。

この歌では、人の目につかない長さのボードウォークで、彼女と二人でイチャイチャ、いや、チョメチョメしよう、という歌です。古いかな?笑

サビの「falling in love」は最初は「making love」でしたが、直後にローリング・ストーンズがカバーして、「making love」だと直接的すぎるから「falling in love」に変えたそうです。オリジナルのドリフターズも歌詞を変えて再録音しています。

だってmake loveはエッ…おっと。
