早速、洋楽和訳のコーナーです。

今日の洋楽

今日はブルース・スプリングスティーンで「成長するってこと」という歌です。

ブルース・スプリングスティーン作曲です。1973年のアルバム『アズベリー・パークからの招待状』収録曲です。

この頃のブルースは「ボブ・ディランの再来」という存在で売り出されていたので、歌詞の内容も一見訳が分からないけど何かしら意味がありそうな感じの内容です。

では和訳です。

海賊行為をしている奴らの旗が俺の帆から飛んで行って、帆をいっぱいに張った。

ジュークボックスを一緒に聴いていた卒業生が最初のガールフレンド、航海は出来なかったが、歌は上手かった。

俺はB-52を操縦して、ブルースと共に奴らに爆弾を落とした、ギアをそのままにして。

全てのルールを破り、母校を襲撃した。着陸しようなんて考えもしなかった。

1ヶ月以上の休暇を取って成層圏で過ごした、呼吸をするのは難しいぜ。

俺は誓う、俺が恐れてたものや愛してた物はみんな失ったんだ、俺は全身衣装を纏った宇宙の子供だったのさ。

最終的に俺の足は地球に着いたが、違う星に良い場所を見つけた。

俺は誓う、停めてあるオンボロの車のエンジンから、宇宙への鍵を見つけたんだ。

俺は母親の胸に隠れていた、

だが奴らが言う「下がれ」。

俺は急上昇した。

俺は成長した。

こんな感じです。

うーん、全部和訳してみたはいいけど、この言葉が何を意味しているのかが全く分からない…
