元は当時グレアム・ナッシュの恋人でもあり、その当時からフォークシンガーとして活動していたJoni Mitchellの曲です。

このウッドストックというタイトルは、1969年の音楽史においての一大イベントでありまして、ニューヨーク州べセルのマックス・ヤスガーの農場で行われた大規模な野外コンサートです。Jimi Hendrix、Bob Dylanなど、当時世界的に有名なミュージシャンがそこでライブをしました。

この曲はそのコンサートを描いています。
