今日の洋楽

今日はジョーン・バエズで「地球に住む全ての疲れた母親」という歌です。

ジョーン・バエズ作曲です。1971年のアルバム『カム・フロム・ザ・シャドウズ』収録曲です。

タイトルには母親とありますが、歌詞を見てみると、農家、労働者、男女に対しても歌われています。

世界の傷ついた労働者、もう一度歌いなさい。

この言葉は、強い合唱に乗せて広まるでしょう。

「私達はもう哀れみを受けるつもりはない、

もう誰も私達を支配出来ないのだから。」

だから世界の傷ついた労働者よ、もう一度歌いなさい。

色々な土地で、兵士が自分の制服を燃やされる時、

そして国境の防空壕に誰も居なくなる時、

将軍、あなたが思い出して防空壕に来ても、

兵士達は皆あなたを忘れるでしょう。

だから地球に住む全ての男、女よ、休みなさい。

こんな感じです。

疲れた時は休みなさい、という歌ですが、この言葉以上に神聖な物を感じずにはいられません。
