早速、洋楽和訳のコーナーです。

今日の洋楽

今日はトレメローズで、トラヴェリング・サーカスです。

アラン・ブレイクリー、チップ・ホークス作曲です。1968年アルバム『World Explosion!』収録です。

トレメローズらしいハッピーなナンバーです。曲中に出てくるナレーションは、誰がやっているのかは不明です。

後に、クリスティーの前身、エピックスもカバーしています。

では和訳です。

サーカスが街に来た時の、

子供達の顏を見て見なよ。

動物を見て、ピエロで笑っている。

みんなショーを楽しみにしてたんだよ。

お母さんも、兄弟も、お婆ちゃんでさえも。

Round the ring and round they go again

馬が競走して、

人形が馬に乗っている。

丸を描いて回って回るんだ。

Elephants are finishing
The band is playing loud
Clowns appear from nowhere and
Are running through the crowd
Slipping, sliding, water everywhere
Screaming, shouting, laughter fills the air

象が出し物を終えて、

バンドが大きな音で演奏する。

どこからともなくピエロがやって來て、

人の群れを突っ走る。

水たまりがあちこちにあるから皆滑って転んで、

大きな笑い声が空を埋め尽くす。

馬が競走して、

人形が馬に乗っている。

丸を描いて回って回るんだ。

Have you ever seen a child's face
When a circus is leaving
When the big top which means so much to them
Finally sinks to the ground
And the last caravan bumps across the empty field

サーカスがいなくなった時の、

子供達の顏を見た事があるかい?

子供達にとって大事なサーカスの大テントが、地面に落ちた時の。

そして最後のキャラバンが別の土地に移るのさ。
