今日の洋楽
今日はブルース・スプリングスティーンで「光で目もくらみ」です。
ブルース・スプリングスティーン作曲です。1973年のアルバム『アズベリー・パークからの招待状』収録曲です。
この歌は、前に私が和訳しようとしたら、あまりの歌詞の難解さに太刀打ちできず、泣く泣く和訳を諦めた、苦い思い出がある歌です。
デビュー当時は第二のボブ・ディランと言われていたブルースですが、この歌は、そのボブ・ディランの歌詞の難解さという、エスプリの効いた歌になっています。
和訳して意味がわかる曲は良いんですよ。和訳したって、ちょっと何言ってるか分かんない、なんて歌もありましたけど、これはその代表格ですよ。硫黄のバリトン歌手とか、淋病をネズミ捕りに移されたとか、現実ではあり得ない事をスラスラと、しかも言葉を畳み掛けるように歌っているんです。
初期のブルースって、私の知ってる「ボーン・イン・ザ・U.S.A.」の様なブルースとはイメージが違います。
なんで、今回の和訳について、どんな歌なのかを質問されても、お答え出来ませんので悪しからず。
